Former Flexographic Press Owner Invests in SCREEN Truepress Jet L350UV SAI Series for Primary Production of Company's UL Certified Labels

SCREEN Americas announces the installation of the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI E model at Enterprise Print Group of Knoxville, Tennessee. The press, equipped with additional white and orange ink, now serves as the label manufacturer’s primary source of production.

Founded in 2018, the Tennessee-based company specializes in durable labels ideal for electrical appliances, medical devices and outdoor power equipment. The Truepress Jet L350UV SAI allows Enterprise Print Group to meet both indoor and outdoor UL certification requirements. To earn this seal of approval, all labels must resist the effects caused by heat and moisture and outdoor labels need to stand the test against excessive sun exposure and abrasion.

Kirk Icuss, the company’s founder and president, was drawn to the SAI series due to its speed, consistency and ability to print on multiple substrates without the need for primer.

Vinyl, polyester, film, and BOPP complete with brushed, matte, or clear finishes are some of the substrates used by Enterprise Print Group, which has the capacity to print labels up to 12.75 inches wide and 120 inches long.

Icuss, who once owned and operated seven flexographic presses at his previous company, has effectively streamlined his short- and long-run label production with the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI. The press prints more than 50 jobs per day using thousands of feet of material. A single job printed on 30,000 feet of polyester is not an unusual order for Enterprise Print Group.

“SCREEN is not a short-run machine for us,” said Icuss. “This is a production press. It checks all of the boxes for what you want in a press: uptime, reliability, ink durability and print quality. Because different widths of material can run at top speeds on the SAI, the machine allows us to minimize waste and maximize throughput. And, ink durability on a substrate without the need for primer is critical to our customers and to us.”

Workflow at the company remains lean since the labels go directly from the SAI to a high-speed roll-to-roll laser line. Without the need for dies, preparation for finishing is virtually nonexistent. Whether it’s a short run or a longer one, Enterprise Print Group typically delivers its labels to its customers in one week’s time. The Truepress Jet L350UV SAI series is able to meet the demands of the company’s customers’ volumes as well as lead times.
