SCREEN Americas announces the installation of the second Truepress Jet L350UV SAI at Label Solutions Inc. of Marshfield, Missouri. The two presses, identical S models with white, orange and blue ink options, have been integrated at the company’s 40,000-square-foot facility and are operating jointly.

As a manufacturer of prime labels, custom labels, labels with multiple SKUs, short-run labels and consecutive bar code labels, the dual arrangement has allowed Label Solutions the ability to match color more efficiently and increase capacity of its overall production. The short web length of the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI produces less waste when jobs are split across two presses.

Label Solutions has benefited from the Trust Network Service program offered by SCREEN Americas. The system is comprised of three components: TRUST Dialog, TRUST Guard and TRUST Assist. TRUST Dialog includes a personalized web-based dashboard providing operators with crucial insight on how the press is performing along with the status of each job. Additionally, the dashboard measures things such as paper and ink consumption. TRUST Guard allows the press to be securely monitored by SCREEN servers equipped with sophisticated software designed to reduce downtime. By analyzing data, the software identifies problems before they materialize. And TRUST Assist enables SCREEN’s product support engineers to provide secure troubleshooting, real-time support and maintenance from a remote location.

“The Trust system is a very powerful tool that helps us analyze every job printed,” said Karen Stevens, president of Label Solutions. “Because of Trust, a great deal of valuable information is collected on a per-job basis that offers insight into the performance of the press along with real-time activity of each job we produce. Trust is a game changing tool for us.”

The company opted for a second press from the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI series upon achieving an ink savings of 20 percent shortly after the installation of the first press in July 2022.

The first installation took place in July 2022 and the second installation is scheduled for October 2022. The company invested in the white, blue and orange ink options for both presses.

President Karen Stevens of Label Solutions noted that the new press resulted in ink savings of 20 percent compared to its replacement — a percentage they expect to increase with the installation of the second press. Because the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI integrated so well with Label Solutions’ existing workflow and color management software solutions, the training and service team at SCREEN Americas is now collaborating with the staff at Label Solutions to achieve a goal of 95 percent uptime for the company’s platform. “The print quality is amazing,” said Stevens, “The size of the dot is small, which allows for a great image. We’ve never had a digital press that printed with this type of quality before.”

Label Solutions had a unique start in 1989 when the company, then under a different name, was part of an establishment that manufactured and sold household paint. The organization purchased a press to print its own labels for paint cans. In 2000, the label portion of the business separated from the household goods business and became a stand-alone label manufacturer. Though it was only generating sales of less than one million dollars in annual revenue, Stevens and her team worked strategically and diligently to grow the business from the ground up.

Today, the company has nearly 40 employees and operates in an impressive 40,000 square-foot facility. Prime labels, custom labels, labels containing multiple SKUs, short-run labels and consecutive bar code labels are manufactured daily for a variety of industries including compressed gas, which accounts for 50 percent of the company’s business, food, beverage and nutraceuticals — a particularly fast-growing market for Label Solutions.

Label Solutions is making the investment to become GMI certified. GMI, which stands for Graphic Measures International, is a certification that ensures accuracy and consistency in color. The company is working toward this certification in order to expand its services to customers who require it.
