Truepress LABEL Solutions from SCREEN Assume 100% of California-Based Printer's Label Production

SCREEN Americas announces the installation of the Truepress Jet L350UV+ to AxiomPrint Inc. of Glendale, California. Equipped with a five-color gamut consisting of CMYK+W, the technology from SCREEN has assumed 100% of the company's label production.

For a commercial, wide format and folding carton printer who once outsourced all its label production, AxiomPrint has secured its place in the label manufacturing business and earned a reputation as being one of the most flexible companies to work with. Its labels can be found on everything from perfume bottles to jam jars to household products in the form of raised-spot UV, raised-foil, double-sided and peel-and-reveal designs that have attracted many marketers.

With the ability to handle even the most challenging substrates, the Truepress Jet L350UV+ successfully printed custom wine labels on linen, securing new business for AxiomPrint. The company's co-founder, Gary Bayatyan, confidently accepted the job knowing that SCREEN technology easily prints on white BOPP, silver metallic, coated paper and holographic foil.

Short-run variable label production has proven to be a significant growth area for AxiomPrint; label manufacturing now accounts for 33% of the company's overall business. "People primarily request mixed short-run jobs," said Bayatyan. "The Truepress Jet L350UV+ is perfect for that. It is rare that anyone asks for 100,000 of the same label. It is far more economical to use SCREEN technology for today's needs than to print 20 versions of one label on a flexo press, which involves time-consuming makeready and multiple job tickets."

To further convenience its customers, AxiomPrint developed an online ordering system that includes a unique proofing platform, InstaProof. Designed by AxiomPrint, InstaProof provides customers with a 3D preview of the label as well as the orientation of the product while on the roll. This procedure has proven profitable for AxiomPrint with regard to reordering. Processing a repeat order now takes approximately 35 minutes as opposed to two days with manual labor. It also eliminates the tedious tag game of back-and-forth emails, reducing the chance of miscommunication that often leads to delays or mistakes.

"What has impressed my customers the most about the reordering process is the consistency in color quality," said Bayatyan. "The rerun is identical to the original. They can't tell the difference. We also have a logistics system that allows for the various labels within a single order to be shipped to multiple locations—and my customers really like that."
