Commercial Debut for SCREEN Truepress Jet520NX Inkjet Press & New Ink at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2017

At Hunkeler Innovationdays 2017 (20-23rd February), SCREEN GP Americas LLC demonstrates the very latest models from the innovative Truepress Jet520 range of high-speed roll-fed inkjet presses, and introduces new ink and important new features and functionality.

During the event, the flagship Truepress Jet520HD press is printing onto standard offset coated paper using new Truepress SC inkjet inks for the first time – expanding the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of this powerful system. These groundbreaking inks provide the same wide color gamut and stability as Truepress inks while also featuring SCREEN’s unique absorption technology. This advance enables the Truepress Jet 520HD to print directly onto offset coated paper – producing a high-quality finish approaching offset quality. The inks are also compatible with printing on a wide range of paper types, including popular standard coated paper and high-quality inkjet paper, as well as standard plain paper. Thanks to this versatility, users have the freedom to print on a variety of different paper stocks on the same press, achieving unprecedented quality.

With its ability to print on material from 40-250gsm, the 20.4 inch-wide Truepress Jet520HD is the perfect tool for a wide variety of commercial printing and publishing applications. Its three different speed settings allow users balance their needs for print quality and deadlines: at the top speed of 393.6 ft/min it prints over 1,600 pages per minute and, when slowed to 164 ft/min, users can take advantage of the fantastic results that come from a full 1200dpi by 1200dpi resolution combined with smooth half-tone reproduction of four grey levels.

In another first, at the event the Truepress Jet 520HD is integrated with a Hunkeler Roll-to-Stack solution with Dynacut function to show automatic cutting and stacking of variable sheet lengths.

At drupa last year SCREEN announced the Truepress Jet520NX model and HID2017 marks the commercial launch of this press. It is equipped with a newly developed 5-inch printhead module and supports a maximum resolution of 600 by 1,200 dpi plus advanced ink volume control. This press can be fitted with an extra printhead for a “fifth color” that enables the use of MICR black ink and other special inks. At HID2017, the Truepress Jet520NX is integrated near-line to a Hunkeler Roll-to-Stack solution featuring the HL6 laser module and printing value-added transactional applications.

Finally, new front-end functionality which automates the production of complex, personalized direct mail and books where each item varies in page size and volume is shown for the first time. SCREEN also partners with Horizon on their booth to demonstrate the automation of binding books with variable page sizes and volumes.
